The ferryboat trip takes two hours, departing from the Puerto Ayora pier, on Santa Cruz Island, to the Isabela Island pier, in Puerto Villamil. At your arrival in Isabela, a guide awaits you with a sign to take you to the Arnaldo Tupiza Tortoise Breeding Center . This center is responsible for the care and breeding of giant tortoises throughout the island. There, you can see adult and baby giant tortoises.
After visiting the Breeding Center, a shuttle will take you to the wetlands, where you can appreciate the beautiful pink flamingos that are feeding or resting. You can also spot many white-cheeked pintails and black-necked stilts. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Then, a small boat will take you to Las Tintoreras Islet. Once you arrive on the islet, you will see several marine iguanas nesting or resting, as well as penguins, sea lions and blue-footed boobies. In the Canal de las Tintoreras, you can observe several whitetip reef sharks resting on top of each other next to sea turtles and sea lions .
There will be a short snorkeling activity around Las Tintoreras Islet, where you can see several schools of colorful fish, sea turtles, penguins, marine iguanas, and sea lions . After snorkeling, the guide will take you to the pier where the ferryboat awaits to take you back to Puerto Ayora. The return trip takes two hours.
