Itinerary to the El Junco Lagoon

At the beginning of the tour, we will pick you up at your hotel and go to the upper part of San Cristobal Island. There, we will find a lagoon called “El Junco”, an ancient volcano turned into a lagoon. This place offers a beautiful landscape with native vegetation and is a refuge to frigatebirds that come to drink from the fresh rain waters that gather in the lagoon.

A 2 km hike will take you to the lagoon. The trail surround by plants like the Miconia, whose green and red tones embellish the environment. On the branches of these plants, you can spot finches that inhabit the area.

Giant Tortoise Breeding Center

After El Junco lagoon, we will visit the Galapagos David Rodriguez Tortoise Breeding Center. In this place you will observe the efforts of the Galapagos National Park to protect and safeguard the different species of giant tortoises. There, you will see tortoises in all stages of life: from newborns to juveniles and adults.

Puerto Chino Beach

To end this experience best way possible, we will take you to Puerto Chino, an amazing site, as it is one of the most beautiful beaches on San Cristobal Island. On the trail, you will find a dry forest full of endemic flora such as the “salt bush” (Cryptocarpus), the Espino bush and the Opuntia. Then you will be able to observe an incomparable landscape with a sea of turquoise water, fine white sand and the contrast of volcanic rocks on the sides of the beach.
